The response, I think, would be: These muscles started with a small little flesh bit to attract fish, and those that had more and more fish-like bits were able to procreate better.<BR/><BR/>I'm not sure what the rationale is behind why the muscle has to spit out its eggs, but from what I've observed, evolutionary scientists don't concern themselves with questions of "why." They blissfully ignore these issues by pointing to the fact that it "does."
