When we were told that the doctors did not know if the girls would live for the first 48 hours it was hard - but we trusted that God was in control and, whether he gave or took away, we would love him and serve him. Babies on mommy's milk come ...Pump, pump pump. Babies on mommy's milk come home faster and have less digestive issues. It's the one thing a mommy can do for her baby at this time. Rent a hospital grade pump and pump every 2 to 3 hours for the first 2 weeks. Get in with lactation. When you have to go home without your baby, this connects you to her still. I...Praying here...I also had a similar experience. I had pre-eclampsia, ended up delivering by c-section at 28 weeks, but my daughter was the size of a 26 week baby (1 lb. 10 oz.). She spent 11 weeks in the NICU, we endured the roller-coaster that involves, but we now have a wonderfully healthy, smart, young woman of 16 who loves the Lord! I'm sure they've made many advances in the care of preemies in the last 16 years, as well. I know Mom is not ...My prayers are with all of you. I know Mom is not thinking this far ahead, but I had mild pre-eclampsia with my first pregnancy and it got worse with my second. In between the second and third however, my dr tested my vitamin D level and found it extremely low. I went on a high dose of vitamin D and did not have any problems with my third pregnancy.
